Latest Siri updates turn Apple’s Artificial Intelligence into a great personal assistant.

Apple’s new software update for all iPads and iPhones has introduced a whole bunch of new features for users. It hasn’t been without problems and there are plenty of news articles about bugs and problems the new update has caused, but for this article we are looking at Siri, which doesn’t often make the news, but has been massively updated.

In Apple’s words, Talk to Siri as you would to a friend and it can help you get things done — like sending messages, placing calls, and making dinner reservations. You can ask Siri to show you the Orion constellation or to flip a coin. Siri works hands-free, so you can ask it to show you the best route home and what your ETA is while driving. It works with HomeKit to let your voice be the remote control for connected products in your home. And it’s tuned in to the world, working with Wikipedia, Yelp, Rotten Tomatoes, Shazam, and other online services to get you even more answers. The more you use Siri, the more you’ll realize how great it is. And just how much it can do for you.”

The latest updates introduce some really useful capabilities to Siri and for me, make it much more useful than before. One example is that Siri can do things based upon what you are using your phone for right now, so if I am reading an email I can ask Siri to remind me about it later. This will create a reminder with a link back to the email in my inbox. We can now ask Siri to remind me about something based on location, so maybe when I get home Siri will remind me to put out the trash. Siri powers the search and can gather information from the internet such as weather or sports scores.

One of the greatest features is that Apple are now allowing developers to open up their own apps to be searched, so in the future you will be able to use Siri to find things within Propellor, which we are looking forward to.
